Dear Dutch - New York Tech Community,
You are reading the first in a series of updates on our startup focused public private partnership 'Halve Maen' (translation: Half Moon). The focus of this project relates to the trading post that was set up in 1609 when Henry Hudson sailed with the ship Halve Maen to the West, to New Amsterdam. Our shared mission is to create a soft-landing hub for Dutch startups in the IT and Creative Industries sectors. On September 21st, Prime Minister Mark Rutte officially opened the partnership in 'B. New York City,' located in the fast growing entrepreneurial hotspot Brooklyn Navy Yard.
What does this partnership mean for you? It means more! More opportunities for knowledge sharing, networking, and coaching. This update and the website will provide you with upcoming events, recaps of past events, interesting publications, success stories and anything else that is relevant to the Netherlands-New York startup community.

January 29th – February 2nd, Educational Technology (EdTech) bootcamp in Boston and New York
The EdTech bootcamp is an intensive 5-day program for Dutch players in the EdTech ecosystem (startups/scale-ups and other organizations) to immerse themselves in the New York and Boston market. StartupFest Europe – panel ‘How to expand to the US market’
During the four-day startup festival StartupFest Europe in September in the Netherlands, Halve Maen hosted a ‘How to Expand to the US Market’ discussion panel. It was the perfect opportunity for Dutch founders to learn about the US startup- and tech ecosystem. Dutch government representatives and startup founders from New York, San Francisco, Boston, and Chicago shared their knowledge and insights into successfully entering the US market. Before the event, there was room for one-on-one meetings with Dutch US industry- and government experts.
